Fans are already fuming over the show’s format change, which will see contestants compete in teams, not as individuals.
And as well as a format shake up, a judge has been dropped.
Carla Hall is being replaced by Kardea Brown – and fans are not impressed.
In a synopsis for the show in the Food Network magazine, it states, “The 12 bakers in this competition will be split into teams of Naughty vs. Nice to take on sweet challenges.”
The synopsis states how the challenges will include snow-day desserts, Chrismukkah platters and elf treats.
“Jesse Palmer is back as host, and judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Kardea Brown will decide who wins the $25,000 grand prize.
“Make a batch of Nancy’s cookies and tune in!”
Reacting to the news, one person on Reddit wrote, “No Carla Hall this year?? And why are they changing the formats of the shows this year?”
Another said, “Reading the synopsis of Holiday Baking Championship, the format has been changed. Now we’re doing teams.
“I would guess that the least successful member of the losing team goes home.
“I am hoping this new format doesn’t, you know, totally suck the life out of the show!”
While a third said, “Grossly disappointing …I hate the whole team concept.
“I can’t believe they dumped Holiday Wars & Christmas Cookie Challenge.”
This comes as the Food Network channel is set to mesmerize viewers with over 50 hours of holiday programming.
As well as the Holiday Baking Championship, the channel will also air Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas, and Beat Bobby Flay: Holiday Throwdown.
The Holiday Baking Championship will premiere on Monday, November 3, at 8.p.m. ET.
More seasonal shows will be airing soon too.
World’s Sweetest Candy Shops will air on Nov. 2.
Gingerbread Land: The Biggest Little Holiday Competition, will air on Nov. 17.
And holiday episodes of The Kitchen will be back on air throughout the end of the year.
